Class DESCRIPTION
There are three types of classes offered at Gress Art Studio:
Adult OPen Studio cLASS$50/classOpen studio classes are directed toward students who are seeking foundational practices in drawing and painting, either beginner or advanced, and wish to work on their own subject matter with personalized instruction. Open studio classes meet once a week for 3 hours and run month to month allowing students to start and stop as they wish throughout the year. Each student will receive one on one instruction and art technique demonstrations.

Specialty Workshop/Youth art camp$50/classSpecialty workshop courses are offered at specific times throughout the year focusing in depth on a variety of different topics such as color mixing, beginning/intermediate watercolor, art history, master copies, basic printmaking, botanical illustration, portrait drawing and painting, direct vs. indirect oil painting and pastel techniques. Workshops are designed around specific lectures and demonstrations with planned projects based upon the techniques being covered. These courses are usually between 6-12 weeks long, meeting once a week for 3 hours. Seasonal youth camps fall under this category with all supplies included.

Winter/Spring 2021 specialty Workshops
Intermediate Watercolor Class:
Saturdays 1 pm - 4 pm 7 classes (Feb. 13th - April 10th) Tuition: $350 *supplies not included (supplies list will be given out upon registration) *loaner paint set, brushes and paper available for duration of class for $90 This intermediate level class helps students further develop their painting skills and techniques. Each lesson is structured with a specific project that will help the student practice previously learned skills and at the same time introduce more advanced watercolor practices. Subject matter will vary between still life, landscape and portrait. |
Intro to Chalk Pastel Landscape:
Fridays 10 am - 1 pm 4 weeks (April 9th - 30th) Tuition: $200 *supplies not included (supplies list will be given out upon registration) *loaner pastel set available for duration of class for $70 (paper sold separately) Designed for beginner/intermediate students who want to learn simple pastel techniques for painting varied elements of the landscape such as seascapes, trees, grassy fields, sunsets, stormy and clear skies, puffy white clouds, watery reflections and other natural elements. Students will work from various photo references and old master paintings of landscapes to practice the learned techniques. You can expect plenty of individual attention and helpful demonstrations. |
Beginning Watercolor Class:
Tuesdays 1 pm - 4 pm 6 classes (June 1st- July 6th) Tuition: $300 *supplies not included (supplies list will be given out upon registration) *loaner paint set, brushes and paper available for duration of class for $90 Designed for those who have no or little experience in watercolor, this course will focus on getting comfortable with watercolor painting techniques while enjoying the process of painting. A brief history along with the basics of materials, tools, techniques learning different washes, layering washes, color mixing, building tones, and brushwork will be covered. Lessons consist of step-by-step demonstrations that students will then follow and practice. The first two weeks will mostly be practicing learned techniques in a series of simple drills then for the following weeks students will explore more complex subjects of still life and landscape. |

A range of media, art forms, and inspirations will be explored including drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture! Projects will be organized so that students are working on a similar theme, but with freedom for each to be creative and add their own ideas. |

private lesson teen/adult$75/ 2 hour sessionPrivate lessons are tailored specifically for each student to help them meet their own personal artistic goals. Whether you are a beginner or advanced in your art training the studio will help equip you with the art techniques and skills that will aide you in reaching your artistic vision. private lesson child$45/ 1 hour sessionOne hour lessons are recommended for children ages 5-12. Art projects are fun and engaging covering a variety of different art mediums and techniques. Supplies are included.

art birthday parties$150/ 2 hoursBase rate for 1-8 children. Add $12/child for additional children up to 12 maximum. Select one themed art project idea and each child will create their own piece with step by step instruction. All materials included.
